Yes! There are as many ways to parent as there are parents. Amen!
So glad that this made you laugh! 🙂
Preach. We must resist years of cultural socialization designed to make us compliant. Enough is enough. Actually, scratch that. Enough is not enough!
Thank you so much!

So cute! My favorite costumes are created with things around the house. One year, my young daughter went as a box of Puppies For Sale. I took a cardboard box and cut off the top and bottom. I attached straps and hung the box over my daughter’s shoulders. I slapped on the sign, double-taped some stuffed puppies around the inside, placed puppy ears on my kid, and that was that! It was a hit!
That is one cute werewolf baby! Thanks for the inspiration 🙂
Thank you!!! And thank you for the cute space family photo 😉
Good for you! I have always said that the child defines the name, not the other way around.
I was just thinking what I’ll do with the extra hour of my children being awake on Saturday. Probably go crazy. 🤣😜😭
We’re right there with you! 😂☕️
Well, now you have a list of things you can do 😂❤
Yes! Especially number 3. You get me!!
Seriously! The amount of times I’ve redone my laundry is obsurd 😂
I love this.
I’m a momma of “feminine” looking boys, and my eldest had long hair (like down his back long) for the first 6 years of his life. Somewhere around 6, it moved up to shoulder length, and he’s now settled on just above the shoulders… BUT- despite all that we always had to explain to people that his hair did not make him A girl. I’m very forward, though… I gave my son the language to stop people in their tracks. An adult would mistake him for a girl, he would say, “oh, I’m a boy.” They’d say something stupid like, “OH, you’re long hair made me thin you were a girl.” and he’d reply, “Well, hair doesn’t really make you a girl. I have a penis. I am a boy.” Insert jaws dropping everywhere. Now that he’s older he doesn’t really use that language b/c we are also pretty active in the LGBQ community and so he’s pretty aware of non-binary language, but still.
People need to get it together.
It is so important to give kids language to use in these types of situations when they are able to advocate for themselves. They not only build up their confidence, but also educate others in the process. Love your parenting, Kimberly!
Yep! I read those rules, too. My husband was ready to throw all the parenting books out by the time our son was four months old. It all added up to a bunch of crap! Not much of it pertained to our kid. It just made me more anxious and stressed out.
Good, good stuff here. Thank you, HabitualMom, for keeping it real and giving your readers some perspective.
Gorgeous words. Some tough stuff here.
I am thankful for you and your family.
This is beautiful! Such good reasons to be thankful! It helps me in recalling the things I am thankful for too in this go go go mommy job!

Thank you for sharing this! Such beautiful words – it is amazing how your mom instincts and gut know exactly what to do – that is such a gift! Good for you for pursuing that and finding a new pediatrician!
