The Internet is a crazy place, isn’t it? You get to interact with so many strangers that you would have otherwise never known. Sometimes, if you’re lucky, you get to know those strangers on a deeper level and they become your friends. And if you’re win-the-lottery lucky, those online friends turn into real-life friendships. That’s exactly what happened with Kate of Opal & Jaye Photography.
What started as an online friendship quickly blossomed into a real life friendship–the kind where you meet up for coffee, text at all hours of the night and accidentally come up with ideas together that give you butterflies.
That’s what MOM Stays In The Picture was like for us. Kate graciously offered to do a photo shoot with us for local moms in New Jersey and donate proceeds to the Pediatric Cancer unit of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
We were very inspired by the #momstaysinthepicture movement that urges mothers to come out from behind the camera and get in the photos with their kids–no matter what you look or feel like. The idea being that even if you feel like you need to lose that extra whatever or slap some blush on those cheeks, you tell that negative self talk to hit the curb and take photos with your babes because they don’t care what you look like! They just care that you’re there with them!
It’s liberating when you start to do this for yourself and your kids and we were so excited to up the ante and collect money for charity–over $550 to CHOP to be exact–and bring in Kate’s amazing photography skills! Just take a look at these photo y’all. Seeing mamas with their babies together brings tears to our eyes. We hope you enjoy them half as much as we enjoyed putting this event together. Big thanks to all of the moms who contributed and thank you, Kate, for being our partner in crime!
